Its your Birthday, 43 years ago at 10:23 am, you graced our world with your presence. I always teased you about coming into the world with such a bang, you knocked out the power up the entire East coast, true story. Everything was so dark, but the beauty of your tiny little soul brought such happiness and light into our lives.
I sang Happy Birthday to you this morning, I have done that for you for 43 years now, its just that it wasnt over the phone or you here physically in my presence. I know your beautiful spirit is with us today as we celebrate your special day with cake and balloons. We are releasing to the heavens special messages to you.

Getting to know those close to us / Daniel Steinhoff (Co-worker) I was (and still am) a graduate student in Atmospheric Sciences at Ohio State, working in the same research group as Rick. Having only known him for a brief time (I had joined the research group earlier in 2005), I did not get to know Rick as well as others that have posted tributes. The personal interactions that I did have with Rick were always pleasant, and he was helpful in getting me started in meteorology research. However, in the often impersonal workplace environment, one does not always get to know the true lives of our colleagues. Unfortunately it was not until after Rick's passing that I learned how wonderful of a friend, son, Christian, and human being Rick really was. I hope and pray that myself and others may take the time for the personal relationships that truly matter in life.

I first met Rick in Jan. 1985 at SFASU. He was one of the first people who warmly welcomed me at the Catholic Student Center. We became close friends through my 5 years in Nacogdoches. We shared the same the birthdate. He was one year younger than me. I found out about his passing away a year later. I regret not keeping in touch with him. I last saw him in the spring of 1997. I didn't know that it would be the last time. Rick was one of my best friends at SFA. I will always remember his devotion to our Blessed Mother. There was something otherworldly about him. I eventually became devoted to our Blessed Mother several years later, and it was then that I realized why Rick was passionate about the Church and his faith. The same thing happened to me. I am grateful for having known him. He was an inspiration to me.

It seems like only yesterday, Angels came and took you away, In fact its been too long years. Memories of you still bring tears and always will.
You are on our minds and in our heart, even tho we had to part. Rick, you always had a smile to share, time to give and time to care. Your loving nature and your heart of gold, you were the best this world could hold.
We love you Son and always will. Each morning I start with a broken heart, but I carry on daily doing my part. The gates of memory never close, how we miss you no one knows. We are wishing today as we have wished so many times before that God would have spared you a few years more.
Today, tomorrow, our whole lives through, we will always love and remember you.

I missed your birthday by a few hours Rick, but nonetheless I'm always missing you out there on the trail of the storm. Often on those long drives across the country I can still look over and see you there writing down the surface observations on a notepad as "Robo Man" calls them off on the radio. I wasn't only a friend, I was a student even though you probably didn't realize it. I miss the learning experience, I miss the laughs and I miss you my friend! Close

To my dear friend Rick on his birthday. Gone are the days we stood together against the wicked abortion doctors. You were always so sweet and kind, treating all of us as your peers, kneeling on the hard cement praying to stop abortion. You were the best looking in our group (ha ha) with your sofe voice and love of our little ones. I loved you young man as though you were one of my sons, admiring the wonderful parents who brought you in this world. Yes God called you home way too soon, I know you are still giving us advice even in death through your books and our memories. I hope you did not suffer, you would not have deserved that. Rick keep us strong, safe and healthy enough to continue your work. I see you surrounded by all the souls of the unborn, you must be very happy! It's hard to believe it's been almost two years since your passing. It seems like yesterday we were all sitting down to discuss the TOB...which is awesome to think about as it means you are still active in our hearts. Well Rick got his birthday present a couple weeks early this year. I was rooting for the Rockies, but had to smile and think of Rick as soon as the Sox won. Back before the Red Sox finally won their world series in 2004, I do remember Rick saying something like "If I live to see the Sox win a World Series, I can die a happy man!" Close

It seems like just a little while ago you raised your tiny head and smiled at me for the first time and I smiled back with tears. I now have only photographs to look at with tears in my eyes and see your beautiful smile. I know that things are all right with you in heaven and I am so very proud of you.
Son, you painted the world around you with love . You filled the world with color and in that way you gave such happiness, oh how we are blessed to have this memory of a wonderful Son who cared so much, you painted Our world with Love .
